Deven

This is Deven, a battle-worn angel known as an Arczell, that appears in my RAVAGE AND REQUIEM series. His left arm was severed by a Drixile years prior to the R & R storyline. Shortly after the battle, he managed to procure a nearby metal gauntlet as a replacement and tether himself to it, using it as a prosthetic. As a result, he now haunts the arm, housing his spiritual being inside it like a hermit crab, while wandering the material plane of Raktogin hunting demons with his two retractable bladed fingers; the arm is missing its right and little fingers. The two bladed fingers were originally twin swords sheathed at his sides that melded to the gauntlet as a result of a supernatural reaction inflicted upon him. Yet, this bond to the gauntlet strains his spiritual essence, causing a strange cyst of stained glass to fester and grow on the armament, pulsing with warped light which he uses to summon solar orbs, blinding flashes, and even shockwaves to combat evil spirits, though doing so diminishes his essence with each use.
Attached to the cyst, Deven smokes a hookah, containing the essence of a demonic prince, whose name Deven is hesitant to mention, lest he accidentally invoke the evil spirit holding him captive. The incense holds Deven hostage with such a fevered ferocity that the denizens of Raktogin constantly mistake Deven for being a Fallen, despite his failing task to purge Raktogin of demons and his personal quest to find his lost angelic brother, Raphen.
At some point, Spathi Ansdari, the main protagonist of RAVAGE AND REQUIEM, inadvertently liberates Deven from the influence of the infernal hookah and the binding incense within, thus beginning Deven's grueling path to restoration.
Amongst the other images featured in this project, I've included a close-up of the prosthetic gauntlet, the cyst, and the otherworldly hookah. The lights on his wings are eyes, as Deven is a cherub of the Unleztruv.
I'll be producing more concept art soon.
